Museums and cultural institutions have closed their doors as a result of the current pandemic. However, more than 2000 of these institutions have joined forces with Google to bring virtual tours of their respective collections to the many confined to their homes. Called Google Arts & Culture, one can virtually visit the museum of their choice without leaving their computer. The Art Institute of Chicago or British Museum and many more are just a click away.
I know, this sounds a bit like an advertisement but it really isn’t. I have personally waited many years, if not over a decade for such a thing to be assembled on the Internet. The fact that many more museums are sharing their collections online excites me and should excite many others.
