I am in the middle of a recently released publication written by archaeologist and author, Eric H. Cline. It is called Digging Up Armageddon: The Search for the Lost City of Solomon
. Cline is also the author of the very well received 1177 B.C.: The Year Civilization Collapsed
and many other great works. Anyway, the publication is focused on the excavation of the Levantine site, Megiddo. Yes, this is the site of Armageddon. It was conducted by the University of Chicago
and more specifically, the Oriental Institute of Chicago
. The best part of this publication is that you can visit the Oriental Institute museum today and see the many artifacts excavated by the many teams led by the institute on display for the general public.
As soon as I complete this read, look for a more formal book review posted on Ancient Origins.
The following images are taken by me [and are not from the above mentioned publication] at the museum.
