The same day I stumbled onto the trilobite, I also found another piece of my small collection, a green soapstone scarab incised with Egyptian hieroglyphs and dating to the Late Period of ancient Egypt (ca. 664 – 332 BC). It is amazing what the ancient Egyptians were able to accomplish with basic tools and equipment.
